"Solid Steel in association with Serato (18th February) This week Redrum starts the show with his Boomtape mix. The Barcelona based French DJ kicks off with funky breaks courtesy of Ali B and gets progressively tougher with Vent and Vibesquad. We continue with music from Wiley, Redlight and Poirier, plus the bass heavy Doorly remix of the Scruff classic 'Get a move on'. This is spiced with different latino, oriental and balkan flavours throughout, before ending on a dubstep note.

In hour 2 Strictly Kev revisits hip hop from 1989 having been asked to play at Classic Material, a night run by Chris Read (whose mix we recently featured). Each month the night celebrates a year from Hip Hop’s past. It was the turn of 1989 which was a special year, rich in musical delights with the beginnings of gangster rap taking over Hip Hop and the emergence of De La Soul’s Daisy Age with their incredible ‘3 Feet High & Rising’ album. All this plus the Beastie Boys, Gang Starr, Jungle Brothers and the excellent 'Calm down' by Most Wanted. " - solidsteel.ninjatune.net

KDBuzz titille joliment les esgourdes en nous rappelant que la page Soundcloud de Cut Chemist s'est vu enrichie de deux mixes, "Disco is Dead (1973-1979)" et "Hip Hop Lives (1985-1996)" il y a deux semaines. Du old school en perspective, du groove, du progressif, du doux, le tout enrobé d'une coque funky à l'épreuve du froid et du temps. Noël, quoi. Il manque juste un espace au mix Disco Is Dead mais rien de bien méchant. Je suis (trop ?) nomenclaturiste.

Un sympatoche mix @ Mixcloud de Nathan Fake, We Fear Silence Mix, de octobre 2009, passe en ce moment entre mes esgourdes. Du uptempo acidulé et orageux all the way avec Ceephax Acid Crew en ouverture, Boards Of Canada, Gescom, Drexciya, que des gens recommandables. La qualité sonore est correcte et l'ambiance trépidante et mentale. C'est par ici que ça se passe !
